Where the Healing Begins
We often think of healing beginning with clinical competency, and certainly, having the skills necessary to treat the patient’s disease or ailment is extremely important. But what about the ability “treat” the person who has the disease or ailment?
This session is designed to help the in-patient caregiver address who the patient is and how to deliver the care they need in a healing manner. Specifically, we will look at patient fears and how our actions can either feed or starve those fears, and thus, make our efforts to meet their medical needs more successful. Our time with them is limited, so what can we do with time we do have to make the biggest impact? How do we increase our chances that they are hearing our instructions or answering our questions honestly and fully? How do we encourage them to have confidence in us and our care?
Join us for one of the sessions listed below, and we’ll address how we can increase our effectiveness in being the place where healing begins.
