Mr. Whitaker we are so appreciative of NRHS and the manner in which all of your employees care about their patients.
I was admitted to the HealthPlex in August as a result of the caring staff on the fourth floor. Because I have been working with the staff on the fourth floor while construction is taking place on the fifth floor, we are not strangers. One day I was returning from lunch and by the grace of God pushed the fourth floor instead of the fifth. When I came out of the elevator Pam noticed I did not look good and asked if I was OK. I blew it off to physical therapy as I could hardly walk from leg cramps.
The receptionist and the nurses did not buy that and observed me as I went to the men’s room. While in the men’s room I heard a knock on the door and it was a lady’s voice. When I came out there were four nurses there each with their own special medical equipment ready to check me out. They did not take no for an answer and they took me down to the emergency room. Little did I know that my potassium level was 7.5 and I had had a bit of heat exhaustion. From the emergency room to my five day stay on the fourth floor I was treated with exceptional care by all.
My wife said the text I sent Amy said it all and thought it would be good for you to know my feelings about my experience. The following is a copy of the text,
"I am feeling better as days go by. Will be seeing Dr. Williams tomorrow. It’s been a rough ride. Today I got David Whitaker’s address to Helen and I can let him know just how the 4th floor staff goes out of their way to save people’s lives. I’m sure that my life was spared thanks to your staff and you and your doctor friend. Totally a team effort. I love you all and will never in my life forget what you have done for me and my family. Today I spent three hours with my granddaughters, thinking that just a week ago today I was knocking on heaven’s door. Today was a good October 9, 2014 day."
