NORMAN - Nearly 3,000 people showed up for Norman Regional Health System’s celebration of the new HealthPlex specialty hospital. The HealthPlex Community Open House was a huge success and the perfect opportunity to show off the new hospital, located off Interstate 35 on Tecumseh Road.
During the two and a half hour open house, visitors toured the $130 million dollar facility that will soon be home to three specialties offered through Norman Regional Health System. The Heart and Vascular Institute, the Orthopedic and Spine Center and the Women’s and Children’s Pavilion will all be housed at the HealthPlex. Visitors also got a behind-the-scenes look at areas such as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, state-of-the-art operating rooms, patient rooms and more.

Visitors were interviewed by the Norman Transcript during the tour. Here is what they had to say about the new facility:
During the open house the Norman Regional Health Foundation hosted the first ever HealthPlex Rubber Duck Derby. Visitors could adopt a duck to race on the HealthPlex Lake for a shot at one million dollars. More than 4,000 rubber ducks raced to the finish line for some fabulous prizes. While no one won the one million dollar prize, several great gifts were awarded. Click here for a list of who won!
"The HealthPlex Open House was a huge success and we are so very pleased to have had the community interest in the new hospital,” said Norman Regional President and CEO David Whitaker. “When the HealthPlex opens to patients in the early fall, we hope the public will have a better understanding of exactly what went into making the state-of-the-art facility and how the building and the employees working inside are well equipped to care for those in need for many years to come."
