Norman Regional is once again the sponsor and stewards of the Gomer Jones Medical Facility at University of Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Gomer Jones is a first aid station located at the North End of the stadium.
The medical unit is now manned by Norman Regional doctors, nurses and EMS personnel. The medical unit was established 30 years ago by Dr. Harold Belknap. In its early years, Gomer Jones was a one-of-a-kind facility and established a national standard for medical facilities and coverage at large sporting events, said Dr. Brian Yeaman, Norman Regional’s Chief Medical Information Officer.
“It is a thrill to know NRHS and our ED physicians, nurses and EMS will bring state of the art care to the unit once again. It brings a great sense of pride to Norman to support OU Athletics on game day and no one would be more thrilled or proud to see its return than Dr. Belknap,” Dr. Yeaman said.
Be on the lookout for Norman Regional signage and a few familiar faces, next time you cheer on the Sooners!
