Armed Intruder Drill To Take Place Wed. Sept. 21 at Norman Regional Hospital

NORMAN - Norman Regional Health System is partnering with the Norman Police Department to participate in a drill exercise that mimics an armed intruder at a hospital. This drill will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Norman Regional Hospital, 901 N. Porter Ave in Norman, Okla.

Members of the media are invited to view and/or film the drill. Please rsvp to Melissa Herron at (405) 307-2146. Please meet at the hospital’s South Entrance. Also please note if on this day you receive calls about the number of police and first responders at the hospital it is because of this drill exercise.

In the drill area you may see Norman Police Department officers in uniform, first responders and medical personnel in uniform. You may hear simulated gunshots, sirens or fire alarms and other loud noises. A person will be acting as a pretend shooter. This person is a police officer acting as the perpetrator for this drill. Most of the drill will take place in an area of the hospital that is no longer in use.

Norman Regional routinely trains for a variety of disaster and emergency situations and is proud to partner with the Norman Police Department to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors, and employees.
