Pulmonary Services Next Steps
NRHS Pulmonary – Diagnosing lung disease one breath at a time.
Our Pulmonary Function Lab uses state-of-the-art technology which includes new equipment from Jaeger, which performs the following:
- Spirometry (PFT) (link to ADAM content for more info)
- Bronchial Provocation (link to ADAM content for more info)
- Diffusion Capacity (DLCO) (link to ADAM content for more info)
- Lung volume sum (Helium dilution or body plethysmography) (link to ADAM content for more info)
These tests are useful in diagnosing Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which includes asthma, emphysema, bronchitis and bronchiectatasis. These tests are also used for pre-surgery, assessment, pre-employment screening, as well as pre chemotherapy testing. All pulmonary testing are interpreted by credentialed pulmonary specialists.
NICU
Norman Regional NICU respiratory therapists are a dedicated core group of individuals, who are trained to go on all high risk deliveries, perform endotracheal intubations, and go on all neonatal transports. They are also trained with state-of-the-art equipment consisting of conventional ventilators, oscillators and nitric oxide, high flow nasal oxygen and nasal CPAP.
Our transport team allows Norman Regional Health System to serve a greater area if the need arises for treatment of premature newborns as well.
The NICU respiratory therapists strive to give the best care available and continue to educate themselves in staying up to date with all current modalities of Respiratory Care.
