At Norman Regional our goal is to keep you safe and comfortable. We have a state-of-the-art recovery room. All of our nurses have critical care training. For yours and other patients’ privacy and safety, no visitors are allowed in the recovery room.
We can make special accommodations for recovery, including the use of translators. Please make us aware of any special needs during your pre-op assessment. It’s the goal of the recovery room nurses to keep you as comfortable as possible. During recovery we assess your pain level by using a zero to 10 numeric pain scale. When we ask you your pain level, zero signifies no pain, while a 10 represents severe pain. This allows us to work with you to properly control your pain.
When you are stable and meet discharge criteria, you will be taken to an assigned room in the hospital or transferred back to the Ambulatory Care Unit.
Due to the medications used during surgery, please make arrangements for someone to drive you home after your surgery. If you cannot demonstrate that you have a ride home, for your safety, your surgery will be cancelled.
