The maternity suites at Norman Regional are designed to soothe. Each suite features hardwood floors, beautiful furnishings and plenty of natural light. From the moment labor begins until your newborn goes home in your arms, Norman Regional’s staff and the latest technology ensure that your baby will have a happy, healthy, and very loving start. Q: Can I get a tour of the Labor and Deliver unit?
A: Yes, we welcome the opportunity to show you around our units and let you see the wonderful services and beautiful surroundings we offer. You will also have the chance to meet our staff and have any additional questions answered. Tours of the unit are given during childbirth education classes and are also available on Mondays and Thursdays anytime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. A volunteer will be available in the Women’s and Children's Pavilion on the first floor at the registration desk. Tours on the first Saturday and Sunday of the month have been discontinued. Please note that tours are reserved for expectant parents only.
Q: Do you offer hydrotherapy during labor?
A: Obstetrical services and equipment at Norman Regional allow for traditional birthing options in a family-centered environment. We do not offer hydrotherapy in labor nor do we have the equipment to allow for water births.
Q: Do you have midwives?
A: We do not have Certified Nurse Midwives that practice in our hospital. We are fortunate to have all Board-Certified OB/GYN’s practicing at Norman Regional Health System. For a list of our Board-Certified OB/GYN's click here .
Q: Do you offer birthing options such as a birthing stool, birthing chair, squatting bar or a birthing pool/tub? If I brought this equipment with me would I be able to use it?
A: We do not offer non-traditional services and equipment for birthing options at Norman Regional. It is a good idea to discuss birthing options with your chosen physician before you come to the hospital for delivery.
Q: Do you have IV’s and fetal monitoring?
A: Our policies and physician orders do predict that every patient in labor will have an IV and fetal monitoring as that is the safest manner in which to deliver your care.
Q: Do you offer birthing classes or sibling classes?
A: Yes, we offer a variety of classes through our Education Center at Norman Regional. Please visit our Find a Class link for a complete list of classes or call our education department at 307-1776 for more information.
Q: How big is your Labor and Delivery unit?
A: The Labor, Delivery and Recovery unit (LDR) on the second floor of the Women’s and Children’s Pavilion has 16 patient care rooms and a six-bed triage area. The rooms are supplied with the most up-to-date and current technology. Patients labor, deliver, and recover on the LDR unit and are then transferred to the third floor postpartum unit. The postpartum unit has 26 rooms that are designed with the comfort of the childbearing family in mind. We offer a safe traditional nursery and a Level 3 Neonatal ICU. For breastfeeding assistance, there are two full-time lactation consultants on staff.
Q: What happens if there is an emergency?
A: We have a highly trained staff and Board-Certified physicians that are capable of managing any emergency. Anesthesia for pain management is available 24/7.
Q: How much does it cost to deliver a baby at Norman Regional?
A: Our Patient Financial Services department is happy to answer any questions you may have pertaining to costs associated with a normal delivery. Please call 405.307.1300. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Q: I just found out I’m going to have a baby and need to find a physician. Can you recommend one?
A: You can reach our physician referral hotline by calling HealthLink at 1-877-NORM-REG (1-877-667-6734). HealthLink is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Q: I was wondering about renting a breast pump. I was told you do this at Norman Regional. Can I get more information?
A: Breast pump sales and rentals are available at Norman Regional Home Medical Equipment. They can be reached at phone number (405) 307-6620 or you can stop by their office at 718 N.
