Pulmonary Services

Each breath you take is vital. Norman Regional is dedicated to providing our region with the quality respiratory care it needs. Our highly experienced team of physicians and registered respiratory therapists treat both vulnerable newborn patients taking their first breaths to adults struggling with chronic conditions. Breathe easier knowing Norman Regional is here for all your respiratory needs.

Even in our most delicate respiratory cases, our superior care shines through. Norman Regional is committed to our investment in respiratory technology and is one of the few hospitals in Oklahoma to have a high frequency ventilator in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Our highly experienced team of physicians and specially registered respiratory therapists is dedicated to providing some of the best respiratory care in the region. And because we handle the most vulnerable of infant patients, you can be sure that even the toughest adult respiratory cases are handled with the same kind of precision and care.

Norman Regional offers intensive, comprehensive respiratory care services designed to educate and treat any person with chronic lung disease. These services are designed and individually tailored for respiratory/pulmonary patients:

  • Overall lung function assessment
  • Breathing treatment
  • Ventilator care
  • Pulmonary lung function testing
  • Arterial blood gas analysis
  • Respiratory Therapy

At Norman Regional we provide 24-hour coverage hospital-wide, which includes a staff of about 50 full-time respiratory therapists. More of our respiratory therapists are registered with the nation’s most respected credentialing board.

Two therapists routinely staff our 21-bed critical care unit providing outstanding care to our sickest patients.

We use state-of-the-art respiratory therapy equipment and technology which includes Dräger Ventilators; Vision Bipaps, VAPOTHERM high flow oxygen therapy, and “The Vest” for chest physiotherapy.

Our Medical Intervention Team includes a registered nurse from ICU and a respiratory therapist. Anyone in the hospital can page the “MIT team” and quick response from highly skilled staff helps ensure better outcomes for patients that are in need of acute care.
