The Rehabilitation Center

The goal of Norman Regional Health System’s inpatient Rehabilitation Center is to help you get back to living your life. With a team of highly-trained professionals, state of the art equipment and a compassionate spirit, Norman Regional is here to assist you on your journey home.

The Rehabilitation Center provides services for those who have suffered functional loss due to a disabling illness or injury. Working closely with patients and families, our team will design a plan to meet your individual needs and goals.

Scope/Intensity of Services

Patients will receive a minimum of three hours of physical and occupational therapy, Monday through Friday and one half day on Saturday, for a duration that is determined by the team. Speech and other services are provided in addition to the three hours of physical and occupational therapy. This program does not currently serve those who are ventilator dependent, comatose, or have burn management needs. Please understand that patients must be 18 years or older for admission. Those who are referred between the ages of 13 and 17 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Insurance/Payment Information

Medicare: Pays for the cost of inpatient rehabilitation provided you meet criteria at admission and during your stay. The Medical Director will make the decision whether you meet criteria, but it is always subject to review from Medicare.

Private Insurance: Your benefits will be verified prior to admission and pre-authorization for admission obtained. This is not a guarantee of payment. Throughout your stay, your case manager will work with your insurance to obtain continued authorization.

Private Pay: If you are paying for the program privately and feel you may need assistance, please contact the business office at Norman Regional at 405-307-1318 and they will assist you.

Length of Stay

Many factors influence your length of stay including severity of injury, previous health status, and medical complications. The Rehab Team will determine an estimated length of stay for you based on their evaluations after your admission.

Patient Satisfaction Surveys at the time of discharge indicated that 97 percent of our patients would recommend our program to others. The survey return rate was 30 percent.

Your Return Home: In 2008, 572 patients were discharged and 77 percent of those people were able to return to an independent living setting. The team will work with you and your family to help determine the best discharge environment for you based on your needs at the time of discharge. If you are unable to return home, the team will assist you and your family in making other arrangements.
