What interests you – making someone smile, meeting new people, learning how a hospital works? The Norman Regional Auxiliary has many volunteer opportunities in a wide range of areas throughout the hospital. Please call 307-1788 for an informational brochure and application.
A few of the volunteer areas include:
Baby Hats – Every newborn at Norman Regional is given a hand-knitted or crochet hat. Yarn and a pattern are furnished to volunteers for this project.
Chaplain – Specially trained volunteers, under the guidance of Norman Regional Chaplains, visit, pray with and minister to hospital patients offering hope, encouragement and faith.
Clerical Support – Volunteers assist with preparing materials for upcoming conferences and meetings.
Customer Service – Volunteers visit newly admitted patients to check on their admission process and determine if they have any needs.
Escort – Volunteers escort visitors to rooms and other hospital areas.
Gift Shop – Be part of the Auxiliary’s largest revenue generating effort as a sales associate or cashier in the hospital’s Gift Shop.
HealthPlex – Volunteers assist with patient registration and other various clerical duties.
Hospitality House – Volunteers register guests, provide information and are available to support guests when needed.
ICU Waiting Room – Volunteers serve as contacts for family and friends of special care patients, providing personal assistance when needed.
Information Desk – Volunteers escort patients, assist visitors, provide room numbers and deliver mail and flowers to patient rooms.
Newspapers – Volunteers deliver the Norman Transcript to patients.
Nu-N-Nuf Shop – The Auxiliary’s “thrift store” is a service to the community and the hospital.
Surgery Waiting – Volunteers serve as the contact between surgery, recovery, and families of surgery patients, providing assistance when needed.

Upon completion of an application, potential volunteers will be required to complete the following:
Orientation – Each prospective volunteer is required to attend a three-hour orientation session. These sessions are held throughout the year at Norman Regional.
Tuberculin or TB Skin Test – TB Skin Test-manditory for all volunteers and provided at no cost to the volunteer.
Immunization Screening – A one time screening for measles, mumps, and rubella is done in the hospital’s laboratory at no cost to the volunteer.
Background Check – A background check will be done on all volunteers prior to receiving placement.
Annual Education – Annual education is held each January and attendance is required by all active volunteers.
Dues – The Norman Regional Auxiliary asks its volunteers for a yearly membership of $5.
Uniforms – Uniforms are mandatory for all volunteers. They include a blue uniform top, white slacks, and white soft-soled shoes. The cost of the uniform top is $25.
