Congratulations to Todd Droscher for being named Norman Regional’s 2019 Healer of the Year!

Todd has worked at Norman Regional for 14 years. He is currently a security officer, but has also worked as an occupational therapy assistant.

He was one of 12 Norman Regional healers in the running for Healer of the Year after being chosen as June’s Healer of the Month.

“Being named Healer of the Year was a complete surprise. Especially once I got to the ceremony where the winner was announced. I looked around and saw some of the other people I was up against and I thought I didn’t have a chance at all. When my name was called, I was in complete disbelief,” Todd said.

The other Norman Regional healers in the running for Healer of the Year were:

  • Julie Beed, July 2018 Healer of the Month
  • Linda Tearl, August 2018 Healer of the Month
  • Brett Mendenhall, September 2018 Healer of the Month
  • Tina Bennett, October 2018 Healer of the Month
  • Barry Deal, November 2018 Healer of the Month
  • Sharon Sanderson, December 2018 Healer of the Month
  • Kathy Wilson, January 2019 Healer of the Month
  • Tammy Gamble, February 2019 Healer of the Month
  • Lindsay Birdwell, March 2019 Healer of the Month
  • Anissa Gilleland, April 2019 Healer of the Month
  • Amanda Jervis, May 2019 Healer of the Month

The Norman Way

Todd said that he loves the culture at Norman Regional because he was raised to live “The Norman Way.”

“You could say my mom started teaching me 60 years ago to be the Healer of the Year,” Todd said.

He explained that he had anger management issues as a child and his mom sat him down one day and explained how his anger affected everyone else. Since that day, Todd said he always imagines things in other people’s perspective in every situation.

“I live everyday with lots of empathy and compassion,” Todd said.

Todd said his favorite part about working at Norman Regional is the support and emphasis on education in the security department.

“There’s so many educational opportunities and there’s always training being offered. It makes me happy because I like doing the job right,” he said.

Prior to the Healer of the Year and Healer of the Month awards, Todd has been awarded Security Officer of the Year twice at Norman Regional.

Todd enjoys kayaking with his son, home brewing and woodworking. He has hiked in the forests of the Washington coast, visited Holland and joked about being abducted by aliens. He is also excited about his first grandchild who arrived earlier this year.

Congratulations again to Todd for being named the 2019 Healer of the Year! Also, a huge congratulations to all of the Healers of the Month who were in the running for Healer of the Year. You are all great examples of The Norman Way and Norman Regional is lucky to have you all as part of its health system. Thank you for all that you do each and every day.
