Norman Regional Health System recently honored multiple providers of the year for 2019.
The awards included the Outstanding Physician of the Year; Physician Peer Award; Hal Belknap, MD, Heart of Gold Community Award; Advanced Practice Provider of the Year, and Nurse of the Year.
Lawrence Carter, MD, won the 2019 Outstanding Physician of the Year, which is voted for by Norman Regional employees. Dr. Carter practices in the hospital and has been with Norman Regional since 2017. He is also the current Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee Chairman.
Dr. Carter received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma and completed his internal medicine residency at the OU Health Sciences Center.
Aside from medicine, he enjoys traveling, home projects and spending time with his family.
Dustin Tedesco, MD, won the 2019 Physician Peer Award, which is voted for by Norman Regional physicians. Dr. Tedesco is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He has been at Norman Regional for eight years and has been serving as the Medicine Chairman since 2017 and the Biomedical Ethics Committee Chairman since 2016, and started serving as the Hospital Quality and Patient Safety Committee Chairman this year.
Dr. Tedesco received his medical degree from the OU Health Sciences Center, where he also completed his residency and fellowship.
Aside from medicine, Dr. Tedesco enjoys reading political and historical books and listening to a variety of podcasts. He also loves spending time with his family.
Patrick Livingston, DO, won the 2019 Hal Belknap, MD, Heart of Gold Community Award. Dr. Livingston is a board-certified family medicine physician at Primary Care – NW Executive Park. He has been at Norman Regional since 2004.
Dr. Livingston received his medical degree from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, completed his rotations at St. Michaels Hospital in Oklahoma City, and completed his the St. Anthony Hospital Family Medicine Residency.
Darren Gose, APRN-CRNA, won the 2019 Advanced Practice Provider of the Year award. He has been at Norman Regional for 15 years, making him the longest tenured CRNA on staff. His peers chose to nominate him for this award and said it is because he does whatever he can to help his colleagues and the group and he takes incredible care of every patient he comes across.
Gose received his Master of Science in Nursing in 2004, the same year he started at Norman Regional.
Aside from medicine, he loves hanging out with his wife on their ranch, hunting, OU football and the Boston Red Socks. He is also a carpenter.
Mac King, a RN in Norman Regional Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, was named the 2019 Nurse of the Year, with Chris Sullivan, a RN in the Norman Regional HealthPlex Emergency Department as the first runner up.
Other nominees for Nurse of the Year included Teresa Brumley, RN, Sarah Camardo, RN, Shelly Jenkins, RN, and Kristen Magerkurth, RN.
