Norman Regional Health System welcomed its 2,020th baby of 2020 Nov. 10!
Breanna Pedersen and her husband, Tom, welcomed sweet baby Timothy Steward to the world at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, weighing 9 pounds 8 ounces and measuring 21 inches long.
Breanna came in for an induction and had no idea Timothy was going to be the 2,020th baby.
“It was a fun surprise and opportunity to celebrate this one in a year that had some challenges,” Breanna said.
Tom added that he was surprised there were that many babies born in Norman this year, but they’re just thankful and honored to be a part of this celebration during a hard year.
Norman Regional’s Women’s and Children’s team came together to celebrate the family and surprise them with 2020 balloons, a onesie that read “Norman Regional’s 2020th Baby of 2020,” and gifts, including a book, swaddle blanket, socks, toiletries, a silicone bib, wipes, a notebook and more. All of the gifts were provided by the Norman Regional Auxiliary and picked out special for Timothy at the Norman Regional Gift Shop.
Tom said the celebration was a fun coincidence for them, and the positivity they needed. Timothy is named after his uncle who passed away from colon cancer last year at only 31.
“I told him while he was on hospice that we wanted to name our next son after him so that was really meaningful for us,” Tom said.
Tom added that Timothy means “honoring God” and Steward means “truth” so their prayer for their son is that he will honor God in the way he cares for other people and that he will be a steward for the sake of himself and those around him.
Upon discharge, Timothy will get to go home and meet his brother and sister who are hesitantly, but excitedly awaiting their baby brother.
The idea to celebrate this year’s 2,020th baby came from Labor and Delivery Nurse Krista Stewart, RNC-OB. She wanted it to be a special way to celebrate the positives that have come out of a tough year.
Congratulations to the Pedersen’s on their new bundle of joy!
