A new obstetrician-gynecologist (OB/GYN) is coming to Norman.

Ronni Farris, MD, is joining the office of OB-GYN Associates at 1407 N. Porter Ave.

Dr. Farris will be delivering babies and performing surgeries at Norman Regional HealthPlex, 3300 HealthPlex Parkway.

She was born and raised in Lawton, Oklahoma and moved to Norman to attend the University of Oklahoma. She received her Bachelor of Science and Medical Doctorate degrees from OU and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at OU as well.

Dr. Farris said she wanted to become an OB/GYN because she loved the idea of delivering babies, but she initially knew she wanted to be a doctor because her dad is one.

“One of my favorite childhood memories was going to the hospital with him and watching him take care of his patients,” Dr. Farris said. “Medicine and the healthcare field is like no other. How amazing is it that I get to apply centuries of knowledge and discovery to help people? I get to be a lifelong learner and I get to use my knowledge and skillset to help people.”

With obstetrics and gynecology in particular, Dr. Farris said she loves being able to walk with women during multiple stages in their life.

“I get to walk with them during the most exciting times and during some of the hardest times. I get to be a source of knowledge, support and comfort. It’s an incredible profession,” she said.

Dr. Farris’s main goal is that her patients to walk away feeling educated and empowered regarding their health.

Throughout college and medical school, Dr. Farris volunteered in free clinics and she’s looking forward to doing that again.

Aside from medicine, her hobbies include reading, running, watching movies, singing, doing projects around the house, crafting, and spending time with her husband, baby and two dogs.

Her favorite movie is currently The Greatest Showman and she loves to read the Harry Potter series. She also likes to travel to Colorado, and loves all breakfast foods and chocolate pecan pie.

On top of all that, she plays the trumpet.

“I’m just an Oklahoma girl that loves my family and wants to help people,” Dr. Farris said. “I try to live by the motto ‘choose joy.’”
