Employees at Norman Regional understand firsthand the devastation tornadoes bring. But they also have experienced the generosity and support that comes after tragedy. That’s why our employees, volunteers and foundation wanted to pay forward the kindness they were shown after the May 20, 2013 tornadoes leveled their hospital and homes.
About $48,000 was donated to help the Winston Medical Center employees affected by an April 28 tornado. Winston Medical Center, located in Louisville, Mississippi, was hit by an EF4 tornado. The hospital took a direct hit by the storm but thankfully none of the patients or staff inside the hospital at the time of the twister were seriously injured.
The Norman Regional Health Foundation made a $20,000 donation to directly benefit the employees of Winston Medical Center impacted by this recent storm. The Norman Regional Auxiliary donated an additional $4,000 and the rest of the donation, $14,000 came directly from Norman Regional employees.
In June, NRHS President and CEO David Whitaker, NRH Foundation Executive Director Anne Clouse and NRH Foundation board member Jim Wade visited Mississippi to present the donation check in person to the employees of Winston Medical Center.
