Joseph Saveika, MD, is the Medical Director of Norman Regional's Inpatient Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Saveika earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a Fellow with the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Within the past week, concerned citizens have contacted Norman Regional Health System reporting suspicious phone calls that appear to be using a Norman Regional phone number. These calls have been scammers who are “spoofing” Norman Regional’s name or phone numbers. "Spoofing" occurs when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity. Spoofing is often used as part of an attempt to trick someone into giving away valuable personal information so it can be used in fraudulent activity or sold illegally.

AARP Smart Drivers Course – Not Just for Seniors

Norman Regional Health System has been hosting quarterly AARP safe driving refresher courses for more than 15 years. The AARP driving program that started back in 1979 has a goal of helping older American retain their independence and improve their quality of life. In order to keep participants aware of increased risks, the course has evolved over time. New challenges include the congestion of roads as well as the advancement of technology. Drivers are impacted by distractions that come with the gadgets designed in newer car, access to hand held devices and even new directional lights.

Norman Regional Health System healers find it important to provide support to families during a time of loss. It’s why the health system developed a support group known as P.R.I.D.E or Parents Responding to Infant Death Experience. P.R.I.D.E. is an intervention team comprised of Norman Regional Health System nurses, chaplains, and social workers. This team is available to families who have experienced miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or neonatal death and grief process support. The goal is to reach grieving families at all stages in their grief, whether it is at the time of loss or in the years following.

A newborn girl has been named an Honorary Girl Scout at Norman Regional’s HealthPlex hospital. The Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma name one girl born during the week of March 12-18 as an honorary girl scout.
