In 1998 the Surgeon General of the United States declared suicide a national problem and sucide prevention a national priority. Raising public awareness about suicide and better identification and referral of people as risk is a primary goal. QPR Gatekeeper training is specifically designed and developed to accomplish this mission. Gatekeepers are individuals who are often in the best position to identify and refer people thinking about suicide.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer, three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives.
