Chat Williams, wellness coordinator at Norman Regional’s Health Club, has been named to the board of directors of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a professional organization for fitness and strength/conditioning professionals. It has more than 40,000 members across the globe.
“I’m very proud to be a board member,” Williams said. “It’s something I’ve been working towards.”
Williams has been involved with the association for the past 10 years. He was previously the State Director Committee Chair, and the Midwest Regional Coordinator and State Director of Oklahoma, where he earned recognition in 2004 as the State Director of the year.
As a board member, he will be making decisions that will affect the organization as a whole.
“My duties will include serving as a liaison to the different committees such as the youth committee and making sure the committees are keeping to their mission and goals,” Williams said.
Williams has worked for 10 years at The Health Club, a fitness center owned by Norman Regional Health System. He is a personal trainer and advises his clients on how to reach their fitness goals. Though he works with a variety of age groups at the Health Club, Williams said training youth from 10 to 16 years old has recently become his specialty.
He has also authored three instructional DVDs and is working on a fourth, to be released in fall 2009.
