National Hospital Week

Norman Regional Health System will celebrate National Hospital Week, May 9 through the 15. Norman Regional honors the dedicated individuals that keep the hospital doors open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, each day of the year.

From nurses and doctors to maintenance staff, housekeeping, food service and clinicians, a multitude of employees help the Health System serve the community each day.

To celebrate and recognize its employees, the Health System will hold a hamburger cookout for employees Wed. May 12 at all campuses. To reflect the true 24-hour nature of a hospital, events will be held so all shifts can attend.

More than 300 physicians and 2,800 employees keep Norman Regionals’ three campuses running. The Norman Regional Health System has served Norman, Moore and surrounding counties since 1946.

According to the American Hospital Association, there are more than 6,000 hospitals in the United States that employ about 5 million workers. America celebrated its first hospital day in 1921. In 1953, the celebration was expanded to a week, and now National Hospital Week is acknowledged as the country’s largest health care recognition program.
