Norman Regional Health System is announcing the construction of the Norman Regional Heart Plaza. The two-story, 40,000 square foot medical building is being built adjacent to the Norman Regional HealthPlex, located at Interstate 35 and Tecumseh Road in north Norman.

"The Heart Plaza will become a regional destination site for outpatient heart and vascular care. It allows us to put services under one roof, to include physician offices as well as diagnostic services to include cardiac echos, peripheral ultrasounds, nuclear medicine scans, and stress EKGs, as well as a coagulation clinic, and a cardiac rehabilitation work-out area,” states David Whitaker, president and CEO of Norman Regional Health System. “We are excited about this opportunity to design a very service oriented and accessible location for patients seeking heart care."

Physicians whose medical offices will be housed within the building include Norman Regional cardiologists – Drs. Paul Ayers, Archana Gautam, Jeffrey Crook, Katherine Hays, Muhammad Salim, Michael Sellers, and Michael Villano, as well as cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Kyle Toal.

The Norman Regional Heart Plaza’s close proximity to the HealthPlex will be beneficial and convenient for patients, Whitaker said. The HealthPlex houses the Norman Heart Hospital as well as a Chest Pain Center. The Chest Pain Center is an emergency room that specializes in treating heart problems. From visiting a physician’s office to surgery to recovery, patients can find it all in one central, dedicated location, Whitaker said. The Heart Plaza’s completion will add those components to the area –designated as Medical Park West.

Norman Regional partnered with McKinney Partnership Architects and Precision Builders, LLC, General Contractor on the Heart Plaza. The curved blue glass veneer will be accented with cut stone and masonry while the interior will offer natural day-lighting and a clearly organized plan for ease of access. The site is environmentally conscious and fully accessible to meet the community’s needs. An abundance of well lit and landscaped parking including accessible spaces evenly distributed around the building will allow immediate and convenient access to all entries for patients and staff.

The Heart Plaza is scheduled to open in Spring of 2013.
