Norman Regional Health System named one of the 100 Best Places to Work

NORMAN - Norman Regional Health System was named one of the 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare in the United States by Modern Healthcare, the healthcare industry’s leading publication.

Norman Regional was the only healthcare provider in Oklahoma listed as one of the top 100 places to work. The list recognizes workplaces in healthcare that enable employees to perform at their optimum level to provide patients and customers with the best possible care and services.

“It is a great honor to be named as one of the top places to work nationally,” said David Whitaker, president and CEO of Norman Regional. “Our employees are what make Norman Regional stand out – our team is a creative, compassionate and intelligent group of individuals dedicated to providing quality healthcare. The true winners are our patients, who are receiving care from Norman Regional’s amazing employees.”

Modern Healthcare partnered with Best Companies Group, a Pennsylvania-based firm that administers “best places to work” programs nationwide. Modern Healthcare conducted this program to recognize outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on a national level. The program collected information from both the employer and employees and was open to all companies (providers, suppliers, payers, associations, etc.) with at least 25 employees.

Employers completed a survey detailing company policies, practices, benefits and demographics. Employees were asked an in-depth set of questions that resulted in an analysis in eight core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall satisfaction.

“Norman Regional strives to attract and retain the best employees and we offer many unique programs to do so,” said Carolyn Shockey, Norman Regional’s director of human resources. “From job sharing to employee wellness programs to our annual service awards events and our multiple employee recognition programs, we hope to create a positive culture that unites our employees, physicians and community. Anyone here will tell you, Norman Regional truly is like a family.”

Modern Healthcare is the healthcare industry’s leading source of business news. As a weekly news-driven publication, Modern Healthcare reports on healthcare events and trends. Modern Healthcare is ranked No. 1 in readership among healthcare executives and deemed a “must-read publication” by the who’s who in healthcare.
