Summer Crawford, APRN, is a certified advanced practice nurse practitioner who serves Norman Regional as a hospitalist, caring for hospitalized patients. She said she chose to become a hospitalist because acute care can be a difficult specialty due to the severity of patients’ conditions.
“That means it can also be the most rewarding,” she said. “Acute care requires a high level of empathy and compassion. I am grateful to assist those most in need in those dire times.”
Summer’s special interests include:

- COPD exacerbation
- Heart failure management
- Diabetes management including DKA
- COVID management
- Respiratory failure
- Gastrointestinal bleeding
“I hope all my patients feel trust, kindness, empathy and compassion,” she said.
Aside from medicine, Summer enjoys spending time with her children, traveling and gardening.
