Makaela David, PharmD

Makaela David, PharmD, was raised in Walnut Grove, Missouri. Dr. David completed her Doctorate of Pharmacy at University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) in Springfield, MO. Her current areas of interest include ambulatory care, emergency medicine and toxicology. After completing her residency, she is considering completing a PGY-2 or working in one of her areas of interest.

Dr. David's major residency project is titled “Effect of GDMT on 30-day Readmission Rates in COPD Exacerbations.” In her free time she loves to read, craft, go to church, and spend time with family and friends.

Desmund Richey, PharmD

Desmund Richey, PharmD, was born in Oklahoma City, OK, and raised in Mustang, OK. Dr. Richey earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy. His current areas of interest include emergency medicine and ambulatory care, and he plans to pursue a clinical position in one of these fields after completing his residency.

Dr. Richey's major residency project is titled "Evaluating Guideline Adherence in Perioperative Antibiotic Use for Acute Cholecystectomy and Appendectomy Patients." Outside of his professional life, Dr. Richey enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing musical instruments, and watching sports.

Atik Syed, PharmD, MBA

Atik Syed, PharmD, MBA, was born and raised in Carrollton, TX. Dr. Syed completed his Doctorate of Pharmacy at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. His current areas of interest are emergency medicine and cardiology. After completing his PGY-1, he plans to apply for a PGY-2 residency or go straight to a clinical role, depending on his experiences during his rotations.

Dr. Syed's major residency project is titled "Rate of Inappropriate Stress Ulcer Prophylaxis Among Hospitalized Critically Ill Patients." In his free time, he enjoys watching sports (go Cowboys!), going to the gym and spending time with family.
