Dylan Shockley is an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at GI of Norman. He received his Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama, and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Dylan said he is excited to be a member of the GI of Norman team.
“I enjoy collaborating with other professionals and learning from their experiences. I have spent the majority of my career focusing on critical care areas and working in various intensive care units. I excel at bridging the gap from medical knowledge to layperson’s knowledge from patients to students.”
Dylan has passion for education, a passion that extends to his patients as well as nursing students at Oklahoma City Community College where he is an adjunct professor.
“I am particularly interested in educating individuals because it gives them the opportunity to be empowered. Patients and students are particularly unfamiliar with critical care areas, and I enjoy assisting them with their understanding of medical knowledge. When a patient or person has an understanding of a topic they can make informed choices and manage their conditions appropriately.”
Patients can expect Dylan to be nonjudgmental and focused on having a collaborative relationship with them.
“I want to help patients understand their issues, then work with them to make decisions that will fit their needs and wishes. I want us to work as partners to achieve their health goals.”
When he’s not working, Dylan enjoys going to the lake and watching sports, especially his favorite teams, the Sooners and Thunder. He also loves to cook, listen to music and spend time with family and friends.
