Jerald W. is a lifelong Sooners fan who attended the University of Oklahoma. He also is a two-time kidney recipient who has battled renal disease since his college days. Thanks to the Norman Regional Gomer Jones Medical Clinic inside the Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, Jerald is able to cheer on the Sooners even when temperatures soar.

“It has been a true blessing,” Jerald said of the clinic and its staff. “I am so thankful for them. I can go in, get a towel or water and they are always so kind.”
Jerald’s father also had a kidney transplant and also sought care at Gomer Jones. His father passed away this year, but he is thankful he has memories of Sooner game days with his father and family.
Jerald has been a Sooner Football season ticket holder since 1998/1999. While at OU, he was a member of the Pride of Oklahoma Marching band, playing the bass drum. It was actually in college that Jerald was first diagnosed with kidney disease after he got very sick after performing with the band at a game.
Now decades later, Jerald is still able to experience Sooner magic firsthand thanks to the Gomer Jones Clinic.
“It has been a God-send,” Jerald said. “One day I just saw it as I was walking to my seats, I went in and the rest is history.”
Gomer Jones offers free medical care to all fans in need. This 8-bed unit is fully equipped to handle a variety of medical situations, staffed by a compassionate team of healthcare professionals including a physician, registered nurses, and EMSSTAT paramedics.
