Norman Regional Health System is proud to host three community blood drives on Wednesday, October 8, along with a Prescription Drug Take Back event at Norman Regional Hospital. These events highlight two important ways our community can come together to save lives—by donating blood and by safely disposing of unused or expired medications.
Blood Drives: A Simple Way to Save Lives
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion. Donating blood is one of the easiest ways to directly impact patients in need—from trauma victims to cancer patients and those undergoing surgery.
Norman Regional will host the following blood drives on Wednesday, October 8. You can click the links below to schedule your appointment:

Why Prescription Drug Take Back Events Matter
Alongside the Norman Regional Hospital Blood Drive, there will be a Prescription Drug Take Back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Healer Garden. This event gives community members the chance to safely dispose of medications that may otherwise pose a danger if left at home or thrown in the trash.
Unused or expired prescriptions can lead to accidental ingestion, misuse, or environmental harm if not properly discarded. By participating in a Prescirption Drug Take Back event, you are helping protect your family, your community, and the environment.
Accepted Items:
- Vitamins
- Prescription medications (Schedule 2-5 controlled and non-controlled substances)
- Prescriptions patches and ointments
- Pet medication
- Over-the-counter medications
Not Accepted:
- Needles
- Inhalers
- Thermometers
- Aerosol cans
- Lotions or liquids
- Hydrogen peroxide
Two Events, One Goal: Community Health
Blood drives and drug take back days may seem different, but they share the same purpose: saving lives and raising awareness.
- Blood donations provide life-saving support for patients in hospitals every day.
- Drug take back events protect the community by preventing misuse and ensuring medications are disposed of safely.
By participating in these events, you are making a direct impact on the health and safety of our community.
