Why Screening Matters

Regular lung screenings are important not only to catch cancer, but also for catching lung nodules, early lung changes, and other lung diseases that can progress if they go unchecked. Annual screenings can help detect problems early, when they’re most treatable.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, and Oklahoma continues to rank among the lowest in the nation for lung cancer screening rates. Yet when detected early, lung cancer and other diseases can often be treated successfully.

Who is Eligible for a Lung Scan?

You may be eligible for a lung screening if you:

  • Are 50 to 80 years old, and
  • Currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years, and
  • Have at least a 20 pack-year smoking history (packs per day × years smoked).

No physician referral is needed. Please note that payment for the lung scan is due at the time of service.
