NORMAN – Retired human resources professional and Norman advocate Lynn Weber has joined the Norman Regional Hospital Authority Board, the governing board of Norman Regional Health System. The mayor of the City of Norman, who appoints citizens to the health system’s board, selected Weber.
Weber is passionate about ensuring quality healthcare is offered in the community after her own battle with breast cancer, she said.
Weber was a breast cancer patient at Norman Regional in 2000. She said she is forever grateful for the professional expertise and compassion she received during her treatment.
“My friend had previously had cancer at a time when his treatment was in Oklahoma City,” Weber said. “He would tell about returning from treatment, driving South on Shields Boulevard. On a good day he hit green lights on the drive, he could make it home before he started vomiting. On a bad day when he hit red lights, he would have to pull over to the side of the rode. I always was so thankful that I was able to be treated at Norman Regional for my health care. It is a privilege to be able to pay it forward.”
Weber served as a member of the Norman Regional Health Foundation Board of Directors for more than 20 years. The Foundation raises money to support the health system and health initiatives in the community.
“It has been an honor to work on behalf of donors to enhance the services of Norman Regional, through providing scholarships, continuing education, equipment and community initiatives,” Weber said.
Weber graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a Master of Human Relations. She has worked in Human Resources, consulting, leadership and staffing. She has a lifetime certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Society for Human Resources Management.
Weber is a member of the Norman Rotary Club and has previously served on boards or committees for the United Way of Oklahoma City, the Cleveland County YMCA and the American Cancer Society.
“I feel it is worth working for excellent healthcare in our community of Norman,” Weber said. “When the elephant is on your chest, there are excellent physicians and healthcare professionals for all of us and our families at our greatest hour of need. “
