Norman - Norman Regional Health System healers find it important to provide support to families during a time of loss. It's why the health system developed a support group known as P.R.I.D.E or Parents Responding to Infant Death Experience. P.R.I.D.E. is an intervention team comprised of Norman Regional Health System nurses, chaplains, and social workers. This team is available to families who have experienced miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or neonatal death and grief process support. The goal is to reach grieving families at all stages in their grief, whether it is at the time of loss or in the years following.
"The P.R.I.D.E. Support Group helps families understand they are not alone and that others have had similar experiences." said Kathryn Martin, Charge Nurse Labor and Delivery, Norman Regional. "P.R.I.D.E. helps families with the grieving process when we all acknowledge their baby and remind them he or she was truly loved."
On Monday, May 1, 2017 P.R.I.D.E. will provide no cost burial services for infants less than 20 weeks gestation at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Services will be held at 2 p.m. The cemetery is located at 2301 East Indian Hills Road in Norman, OK.
The PRIDE Support Group meets monthly for those affected by pregnancy and infant loss is hosted by the chaplains. Meetings are located in the Norman Regional Hospital Conference Room 2 on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.
