Schedule Your Heart or Lung Scan Now
At Norman Regional, we believe preventive care matters and that early detection saves lives. Your heart and lung health is vital to your overall well-being. Catching coronary artery calcium buildup and lung diseases early can make all the difference in your treatment.
One of the biggest advantages of a heart scan is early detection. Because heart disease often progresses quietly, a heart scan can reveal risk even when blood work, physical exams, or symptoms haven’t raised concerns yet.

Regular lung screenings are important not only to catch cancer, but also for catching lung nodules, early lung changes, and other lung diseases that can progress if they go unchecked. Annual screenings can help detect problems early, when they’re most treatable.

Cardiac scoring is the best noninvasive test for measuring coronary artery calcium content. It is used to diagnose coronary artery disease in an early state and to determine its severity. Cardiac scoring is at least 10 times more powerful a predictor of coronary artery disease episodes than cholesterol screening.
On the day of your exam, after completion of your scan, you will be provided a copy of your Preliminary Calcium Scoring Report. Your calcium score correlates with the severity of coronary atherosclerosis. A low score suggests a low likelihood of coronary artery disease, but it does not exclude the possibility of significant coronary artery narrowing. The results should be discussed with your physician.
In addition to your Preliminary Calcium Scoring Report, one of the nine Norman Regional Health System’s board certified radiologists will analyze all images taken during your exam and create a signed Final Report. If any incidental findings are discovered they will be addressed within this report.
This report will be available to you within (5) five business days via our patient portal, or you can personally pick it up at any of our 3 main campuses. If you wish to have the report sent to a healthcare provider of your choice, then all you have to do is let us know when you register for your exam. This is often the preferred method as a physician can more clearly explain the results and the terminology used in the report and address and concerns or questions you may have.
Acquiring the Final Report and following up on any recommendations within that report is solely your responsibility and not the responsibility of Norman Regional Health System.
You could benefit from a heart scan or combination heart and lung scan if you have any of these risk factors:
Learn more about our Heart Care
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Norman Regional offers a low-dose computed tomography (CT) scan, which noninvasively and painlessly screens for lung cancer.
One of our highly trained radiologists will review the images, and our specialized nurse navigator will notify you of any abnormal findings or simply send you a letter if the findings are normal. This screening provides a point of reference for tests you may need throughout your life. We recommend you share all results and findings with your primary care physician.
