Teen Volunteers

Learn valuable skills by becoming a Teen Hero Volunteer at Norman Regional

The Norman Regional Teen Hero volunteer program is no longer accepting applications for the 2026 Summer of Service. Check back in March 2027 for the 2027 Summer of Service details.

The Teen Hero Volunteer Program is open to incoming freshmen, or students 14 years of age, to seniors in high school.

Summer Service Areas

Areas where our Teen Hero Volunteers work include:Teen volunteers

  • The Daily Grind Coffee Shop
    • Volunteers assist the baristas at the Daily Grind and complete tasks as needed.
  • The Gift Shop
    • Be part of the Auxiliary’s largest revenue-generating effort as a sales associate or cashier in the hospital’s Gift Shop.
  • The Health Club
    • Volunteers assist The Health Club staff and complete tasks as needed.
  • Information Desk
    • Volunteers escort patients, assist visitors, provide room numbers and deliver packages and flowers to patient rooms.
  • Patient Rounding Cart
    • Volunteers visit patients offering complimentary comfort items such as lip balm, hair combs, puzzle books and more.
  • The Scrub Shop
    • A specialty retail area offering scrubs, shoes & various accessories. Volunteers assist customers with special orders, sales and stocking the store.

Time Commitment

Our Teen Hero Volunteers must be available to volunteer for seven of the nine weeks during the 2026 Summer Service Session.

Teen Hero Application, Selection and Onboarding

How to Apply

Participants are selected through an application process.

  1. Applicants must be incoming freshmen, or 14 years of age, thru seniors in high school.
  2. Complete the online application when available.
  3. Submit a 100-word essay: “Why I would like to be a Teen Hero Volunteer."
  4. Submit a letter of reference from a school, church or extracurricular organization official.
Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2026 Summer of Service.
Check back in March 2027 for the 2027 Summer of Service details.

The Interview Process

Applicants will be asked to participate in the group interview session. A limited number of applicants will be selected to participate in the program.

Onboarding for Teen Hero Volunteers

Once selected, applicants will be required to complete the following:

  • Orientation
    • Each volunteer must attend a two-hour orientation session with a parent or guardian.
  • Tuberculin Screening
    • Mandatory for all volunteers and given free of charge at the hospital.
  • Flu Shot
    • Mandatory for all volunteers participating in the program between October and April.
  • Immunization Records
    • Proof of vaccination for measles, mumps, rubella and varicella are a requirement.
  • Uniform
    • Volunteers must purchase a uniform top for $10.
  • Annual Education
    • Annual education is once a year and attendance is required by all active volunteers.
All New Teen Hero Volunteers and a parent/guardian must be able to attend a mandatory orientation session once accepted into the program.
