Bone Density Scans
DEXA Scans at Norman Regional
What is a DEXA Scan?
A
DEXA Scan (or DXA Scan) is a bone density test that measures how strong your bones are. DXA, short
for dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, measures the amount of calcium and
minerals in your bones. A higher amount of minerals in your bones means
they are denser and stronger, and the less likely they are to break. DEXA
Scans help diagnose
osteoporosis.
